3DM file format support

Hi Phil,

In the next version we plan to make support of CAD files through FreeCAD.
This will allow to make some import from the following formats: https://wiki.freecad.org/Import_Export
Unfortunately there is no 3DM, which is request since a while but not obvious to implement.

We will redo a review of the format to see what this implies.

Anyway, the support will not occur quickly.

FYI 3dm file format is used by Rhino 3d (large user base) and MOI3D

Hi Phil,

3DM support would definitely be useful, especially for users working with Rhino files. As far as I know, it hasn’t been implemented yet, but it would be great to see it added in a future update. Hopefully the dev team can confirm whether it’s on their roadmap.

There is now an SDK that supports 3DM formats.
We will certainly look into this issue in first quarter of the new coming year.

Support for CAD/CAO file formats will be our objective.
