Hello,
I am pleased to announce Polygon Cruncher 7.63.
That was a long track from the x32 version to the x64 version, given that all the source code has been also converted to unicode (making non ascii folders name being supported during batch optimization).
The new setup package includes support for 3ds Max 2008 and 3ds Max 9 x64 bits and Lightwave 9 x64 bits.
The Maya 8.5 x64 bits file support for has been also added.
Of course, x32 bits plugins are still provided.
You can download this new version at:
Polygon Cruncher 7.63
On a x64 bits system, you will have the choice to setup x32 or x64 bits plugins.
I hope that every users which were waiting for this new release will be satisfied.

I run Max 8 (Sevice Pack 3) under a 64bit version of Windows XP. Will this version be compatible for me?

Hello,
I am not sure 3DS Max 8 x64 bits version exists. I guess you are using 3DS Max 8 x32 bits under XP x64 bits.
If this is the case, Polygon Cruncher includes a plugin for 3DS Max 8 x32 bits and you'll be able to use it.
Otherwise, x64 bits support is available for x64 bits version of 3DS Max 9 and 3DS Max 2008.
Yours,
Manuel

I'm noticing that the 64 bit version converts at a significantly slower rate than the 32 bit. Is this expected and if not do you have any recommendations on speeding the 64 bit version up? Thanks in advance.

I did not make any performance tests but x64 bits application can be slightly slower than x32 bits version, because it has to manage x64 bits pointers. The advantage is that you will be able to optimize larger meshes.
Moreover you can still use the x32 bits version are it is still provided. But in this case I suggest to use it under a x32 bits system.
(If you use 3ds Max x32 with Polygon Cruncher x32 under a x64 bits system your performance will be bad, due to the x32 bits emulation done by Windows.)
I hope this help,
Manuel
